About Joop van Dijk
Joop van Dijk (Utrecht, 1961) studied tuba, double bass trombone with Herman Bekkers and HaFaBra conducting with Gerrit Fokkema at the Utrecht Conservatory from 1978 to 1984. From 1980 he worked as a free lance tuba player and double bass trombone player with all Dutch symphony orchestras. He was also a member of the Schönberg Ensemble, the ASKO Ensemble, the Nieuw Ensemble, the Osiris Copper Quintet and the Haags Koper Sextet (Dutch Brass Sextet). From 1987 to 2013 he worked as a solo tuba player and composer-arranger at the Marine Band of the Royal Navy.
Joop van Dijk is specialized in composing and arranging for concert band, fanfare orchestra, brass band and wind ensembles. His works, often commissioned, are frequently performed and recorded in and outside the Netherlands.
